This strategic one-day overview on Danish Construction Law is specifically designed to provide non-legal professionals with a practical hands-on understanding of how to navigate the Danish legal system AB 18.

Course Objectives:

  • Familiarize participants with the fundamental aspects of Danish construction law and its relevance to construction projects in Denmark.
  • Introduce participants to the key legal frameworks and regulations governing construction projects in Denmark.
  • Provide an overview of the roles and responsibilities of the various stakeholders involved in Danish construction projects, including contractors, subcontractors, owners, and architects/engineers.
  • Explore the core principles of contract formation, interpretation, and performance within the context of Danish construction projects.
  • Discuss common legal issues and challenges encountered during construction projects in Denmark, such as delays, disputes, and changes to the scope of work.
  • Provide practical guidance on effective contract administration and risk management strategies in Danish construction projects.
  • Introduce participants to the dispute resolution mechanisms commonly used in Denmark, such as negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and litigation, with a specific focus on the construction industry.
  • Highlight recent developments and trends in Danish construction law and their impact on contract administration.

Course Delivery:

The course will adopt a practical and interactive approach to understanding Danish construction law.

Since participants may have limited knowledge of the Danish legal system, the course will start with an introduction to the Danish legal framework, explaining its structure and basic principles.

Through case law and group discussions, participants will learn how these legal principles apply specifically to construction projects in Denmark. Real-life examples and scenarios will be presented to enhance understanding and facilitate practical application of the concepts. Participants will have ample opportunity to ask questions, share their perspectives, and engage in discussions to foster a deeper understanding of the subject matter.

The course is conducted by attorney Simon Heising.


Simon is a legal specialist within construction, procurement, and insurance with over 20 years of experience. He advises and assists national and international construction companies and clients in complex arbitration cases.
Through courses, networks, seminars, and webinars, he conveys the legal principles and rules of construction law, making them understandable and applicable to everyone based on relevant case law.
